Carolyn Jean Stewart: 1941-2017

Oct 31, 2017

It is with sadness we announce that on Sept. 28, 2017, Carolyn Jean (Marshall) Stewart made her way to heaven. She was preceded in death by parents Chet and Betty Marshall and brother Gary Marshall.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon Stewart, her daughter Stacey West (husband Ethan West), her two grandchildren Brandon and Cameron Hamblet, and her two stepchildren, Sandy Powers (husband Joe Powers) and Gordon Stewart Jr. (son Alex Stewart).

She is also survived by brothers Mike Marshall (wife Toni), Monte Marshall (wife Janet), and her nieces Melissa and Kristine, and nephews Jay, Mike, Matthew, RL and DJ.

Carol was born in Shelton, Washington, on March 26 1941. During the same year, two of her favorite cousins were also born, Donny Whitener and Wanda McNeil. The three remained very close throughout Carol’s life.

At Shelton High School, she made wonderful friends. Carol Ann, and several others, remained close throughout her life. These relationships were very important to Carol. She enjoyed, when her health permitted, going down to Shelton for their annual high school reunion luncheons.

After high school graduation, Carol moved to Seattle. When she arrived, the YWCA became her residence. It was during that period she started with a company she would retire at, IBM. During her 30-year career at IBM, Carol made many friends. Monthly luncheons for IBM retirees was something she always looked forward to.

Soon after she started at IBM, she met Gordon Stewart, her beloved husband of 53 years. When married they lived in Seattle, but soon moved to Edmonds where they resided for over 40 years. The neighbors soon became friends and during the last few years were there for Carol and Gordon.

When Carol retired from IBM, she began a second career as a real estate agent. She enjoyed helping people and was a top seller for a number of years.

Carol and Gordon had a beautiful daughter, Stacey West. Stacey had two children, Brandon and Cameron. One of Carol’s favorite joys was being a grandmother. She loved her grandkids. They meant the world to her. Another favorite was her step-nephew Alex Stewart.

Carol did not want a service. She requested that when her husband joins her that both of their ashes be sprinkled by her parents’ graves in Shelton, along with the ashes of their two dogs.

We cannot express how much she is missed. Condolence cards can be sent to Gordon Stewart, 3333 148th St. SW, #136, Lynnwood, WA 98087.
