Beacon teen series is appreciated | Letter

Editor, The Beacon:

The “Turn up the Volume” series on teen issues, including the recent one calling for action to make a difference, was very informative [“Reviving Snohomish County,” Edmonds Beacon, page 4, March 24].

Better understanding can definitely lead to hope. This is the situation in our world as well as our community. There is hope in our world thanks to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. It is on track to control these pandemics.

Thanks to the Global Partnership for Education working to offer 120 million children and adolescents the opportunity to go to school. Congress is helping with proposed legislation: The Reach Every Mother and Child Act aims to end preventable deaths of mothers and children in our world.

Also, the Education for All Act to help all children get an education. As citizens, we can help create this hope by asking our representatives and senators to support this important legislation.

Willie Dickerson,

Snohomish
