An update on Harbor Square | Port View

By Bob McChesney | Dec 27, 2017

If you are a local resident you have either visited Harbor Square or, at the very least, driven by Harbor Square at some point.

The Port acquired the Harbor Square buildings back in 2006 and has worked hard to maintain it as a thriving business complex. The Harbor Square campus is comprised of five office buildings, Best Western Plus Edmonds Harbor Inn and the Harbor Square Athletic Club.

Harbor Square is busier than ever today, as it is approaching 100 percent occupancy. Harbor Square is home to 53 different businesses, most of which are locally based. Approximately 520 people work on the premises, and there are many long-term tenants who have been there for 10-plus years.

After 26 dutiful years, Jan Conner recently retired from managing Harbor Square. Back in May, I hired Brittany Williams as our manager of properties and marketing to take over Jan’s duties.

The Port has invested heavily in repairing the roads and replacing roofs and HVAC units at Harbor Square. In the upcoming years, the Port will continue to improve roads, update building lobbies and replace additional HVAC units.

We also have an exciting landscape project scheduled for 2018. We will be beautifying the corner of Dayton Street and SR 104 by adding new plant beds, a walking path and benches.

Our Harbor Square tenants enjoy a tight-knit working community and seem to take full advantage of the amenities, including easy access to the marina, athletic club, ferry dock, train station and many local restaurants.

We value their tenancy and we hope the number of long-term Harbor Square tenants continues to grow.

From all of us here at the Port of Edmonds, I would like to wish you happy holidays. Don’t forget to come down to the marina for the Holiday on the Docks display going on now through Jan. 3 in our guest moorage.
