A ‘wailing wall’ for Democrats | Letter

May 17, 2017

There's a "wailing wall" in Edmonds. On the block between Sunset Avenue and Second Avenue South, it's on the south side of Dayton Street.

There are plenty of vertical concrete surfaces for the Democrats to use. They can bemoan that they cheated Bernie. They can cry that their crooked, lying, no-message candidate lost the election.

President Trump will pack the Supreme Court, flush the EPA, replace "consensus" with science and make America great again.

What is the point of this letter, other than vindictive triumphalism?  It is a pity that Mr Keeler so despises anyone who disagrees with his ubiquitous opinion (nine on-line Beacon posts and blogs when I last bothered to count).  Mr. Keeler neglects to reflect that living in a functional democracy involves the (for him) almost impossible job of respecting the other person's experience and views.  That is part of community, as well as democracy, and I am disappointed that a community paper supports this kind of divisive, mean-spirited nonsense.  Are we building community, or tearing it down?
