There’s a new baby on the block.

422 Main St., the former location of Belly & Co. child and maternity store – and before that, Kinder Britches and Yvonne’s Corner for Kids – has a new owner. Brittani Straub, founder of Little Bipsy Collection, recently opened her women’s and baby boutique, continuing the tradition of having children’s stores at the address for over 50 years.

“It was a little sooner than I had really anticipated, but I knew that I couldn’t pass it down,” Straub said.

She is not the most likely of people to be running a baby store.

Straub had a career in the dental field for 12 years. After having her son Conor in 2015, she started selling his used clothes on Instagram to earn money while being a stay-at-home mom.

“I started meeting these moms all around the world,” she said, and her passion for connecting with them was what she said she really loved about it.

Somewhere along the way, she wanted to find a pair of stylish high-top shoes for her son. Seeing no good options, she took a swing at designing the shoes herself, and they were a hit.

The shoes sold out in under two months, and Little Bipsy Collection was born.

Fun fact: “Little Bipsy” was a nickname given to Brittani by her grandpa – he started calling her “little gypsy” because she followed her mom everywhere. It evolved into “Bipsy” because of the first letter of her name is “B.”

Fast forward to today. Little Bipsy has launched its third line of shoes and a clothing line, with more to come.

Straub had a clear answer when asked the secret behind her success.

“It’s the support, it’s the collaborations. There is nobody I would turn down for a collaboration.”

Helping and working with others was key to turning her hobby into a profitable business. Her advice for those aspiring to start their own businesses: “Just do it. Otherwise, I would still be working on teeth.”
