A look at the girls tennis postseason

It's hard to believe, but the regular season is already grinding to a close and the playoffs will soon be beginning for most spring teams.

Here's a breakdown of the playoff scenarios for local girls tennis teams.

4A

The 4A Wesco girls postseason begins May 14 with the District 1 tournament at Snohomish High School.

Each school can send two singles and two doubles teams to the tournament.

The top two players in the singles and doubles tournament will advance to the 4A state tournament, held May 29-30 at Columbia Basin Racquet Club in Richland. The top boys qualifiers from last fall will also play at state.

3A

The 3A Wesco girls tennis postseason begins with the 3A North and 3A South tournaments.

The 3A South tournament will be played at Glacier Peak on May 12-13.

The top four singles and top four doubles teams at the tournament will advance to the District 1 tournament.

The District 1 tournament will be held May 19-20 at Arlington High School.

The top three in singles and doubles will qualify for the state tournament, held May 29-30 at Tri City Court Club in Kennewick.

2A

The 2A postseason begins with the South Sub-District tournament May 12-13 at Granite Falls High School.

The top three in singles and doubles will advance to the district tournament.

Districts will be held May 18-19 at Sehome High School in Bellingham.

The top three will advance to the 2A state tournament, which will be held May 29-30 at Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle.

1A

The 1A girls tennis postseason begins with the Tri-District tournament on May 21 at the Amy Yee Tennis Center in Seattle.

The state tournament will be held May 29-30 at the Yakima Tennis Club.
