College Place Elementary School families and teachers spent Oct. 19 “Falling in Love with Reading.”

Families engaged in literacy activities that helped bridge the home-school connection. After participating in activities, families took home information about the connected literacy skills and their importance.

The night focused on reading and building family connections, but was also full of games, prizes, fall treats, and free bus transportation provided by the Foundation for Edmonds School District.

Families had stories read to them by community guest readers such as Edmonds firefighters, Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling and Larry Merwin from Edmonds Kiwanis (pictured).

Students received free books to build their home library and had the opportunity to purchase books at the Scholastic Bookfair. Over 350 families and 30 staff members participated.
