10 district schools win WA achievement awards

Ten Edmonds School District schools have been recognized with 2012 Washington Achievement Awards.

Presented by the Washington State Board of Education and the Superintendent of Public Instruction, the awards recognize schools for excellence and progress based on the Washington Achievement Index and the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Flexibility Waiver.

A total of 381 Washington State schools are celebrated for being top performers in seven categories:  Overall Excellence; Language Arts; Math; Science; Extended Graduation Rate (only awarded to high and comprehensive schools); Closing Achievement Gaps; and High Progress (Title 1 eligible or participating schools only).

Brier Elementary – Closing Achievement Gaps

Chase Lake Elementary – Closing Achievement Gaps, High Progress

Edmonds Elementary – Closing Achievement Gaps

Edmonds Heights K-12 – Extended Graduation Rate

Hazelwood Elementary – High Progress

Maplewood Parent Cooperative – Overall Excellence, Science

Meadowdale Elementary – Closing Achievement Gaps

Meadowdale Middle – Closing Achievement Gaps

Seaview Elementary – Closing Achievement Gaps

Terrace Park School, Challenge Program – Math, Science


The award-winning schools will be honored during an award ceremony on April 30 at Kentwood High School in Covington. Congratulations District Schools!
