Wholesale change is needed

What has happened to America?  Why is it that we can no longer believe anything said to us by our government?

Lack of truthfulness is not new ... I'm sure it goes back many years but it most definitely has accelerated greatly in the last few decades.

Was Nixon the epitome of cover up?  Not even close!  Cover up in government is a fact of life on a daily basis from time gone by to our current representatives.

Recent happenings, such as the tragedy in Libya, has government officials lying their bottoms off. Many times in contrast to opposing falsehoods being fostered by other branches of this same government.

What happened in Libya that caused the death of four Americans, stationed there to promote peace between our countries, is covered by a blanket of mystery.

Let's not kid ourselves.  We'll never know what really happened.  Lies stacked on top of other lies will only serve to confuse us further.

Congressional hearings (I'm writing this as the hearings begin on Oct. 10) will simply provide a forum for the cadre of liars to spew their misinformation to a larger audience.  What a waste of time.

I'm not sure what the answer is... I wish I knew.  I do know, however, that information provided us by many (if not all) of our elected representatives in Washington D.C. is not only slanted to the advantage of the purveyor (or those cronies who are closely affected) of the carefully scripted message but is intentionally distorted to make we citizens believe in a point of view often not necessarily truthful.

When are we going to get smart enough to elect people to office who represent us instead of covering for the government elite who originally were intended to be our employees? It is high time.

Let's get rid of the overpaid, under worked and overly compensated, with retirement benefits, varmints.

It is going to be a formidable task to find an entire Congress that is mostly comprised of honest people but I think it is doable if we get rid of all of the career politician rules makers and manipulators who are currently in charge and who threaten basically honest newcomers with deprivation of involvement in important committee assignments if they don't fall into line.

As the French shouted during their revolution in the 1790s, "Off with their heads!"  I don't suggest that we go to that extreme but I would suggest, "Out with their butts" might be timely.
