Welcome new Beacon editor
The Edmonds Beacon has a new editor.
Beacon reporter Laura Daniali assumed the role of city editor at the newspaper on May 12.
Daniali joined Beacon Publishing in November 2013 as the classifieds manager, and began reporting on Edmonds City Council in February.
Since then, Daniali has had the opportunity to write about people and events in the community.
Before joining the Beacon, Daniali pursued a degree in biology from Edmonds Community College.
While attending EdCC, Daniali worked as a section editor, and later as the Editor-in-Chief, of the campus newspaper, The Triton Review.
“Working at The Triton Review was a great experience for me,” Daniali said. “I’ve always been passionate about writing, and reporting allows me to blend my love of writing and ever-questioning nature together.”
Publisher Paul Archipley said Daniali has been a good fit for the Beacon Publishing family.
“She’s a good writer, and she cares about the quality of her work and the community she covers,” he said. “We’re happy to have her aboard.”
Daniali grew up in southeast Texas, and moved with her young family to the Seaview neighborhood of Edmonds in 2002.
She has three sons attending school in the Edmonds School District, and treasures the experiences Edmonds offers to families.
“Edmonds is my community, and I am looking forward to telling the stories of those I share it with,” she said.
When she isn’t writing, Daniali likes spending time at Marina Beach in Edmonds, listening to live music and dancing with friends, and can frequently be found perusing the shelves of the Edmonds Library.
