Jul 10, 2013

Whidbey Working Artists present its annual Summer Studio Tour on Whidbey Island for two weekends in August and September.

The tour is set for Aug. 24-25 and Labor Day weekend, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1-2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

This free, self-guided tour features 30 working studios with 31 artists. Over the Labor Day weekend, the tour runs concurrently with the Oak Harbor Music Festival.

Learn first-hand about what inspires these artists and watch the processes that go into their work, while enjoying scenic island views as you travel from studio to studio.

A brochure with map and artists’ information are available at the Whidbey Working Artists website or on ferries going to Whidbey Island and at island visitor centers.

Over its 10-year history, Whidbey Working Artists has sought to inspire and educate budding amateur artists, provide awareness to the public of the skills available locally, and offer opportunities to buy original art directly from the makers in their workplaces.

From encaustic, fiber, glass, jewelry, painting, photography, print, pottery, sculpture to wood and multimedia – it’s all there.
