Suspected semi-truck thief apprehended
A man suspected of stealing a semi-truck and assaulting a Sheriff’s deputy was been apprehended after an hour-long manhunt Thursday.
According to Sheriff's spokeswoman Shari Ireton, the incident began around 12:30 p.m. when a call came in that the suspect allegedly stole a 10-wheel semi-truck from the 2600 block of Norman Road.
A Sheriff’s deputy located the vehicle and suspect, who was out of the truck, a short time later.
When the deputy attempted to question the suspect, the suspect allegedly assaulted the deputy and fled the area on foot, Ireton said.
With the assistance of several units, including K9, the suspect was located at Church Creek Gulch and Jensen Road, and taken into custody around 2 p.m.
The deputy sustained what are believed to be minor injuries, Ireton said.
