Sister City looking for host families for Japanese students
Would your family like the experience of a Japanese high school or middle school student in your home for two weeks this August?
Would your children like a cross-cultural interaction that broadens their view of the world and delights in making new friends from faraway places?
A group of 15 Hekinan students and two chaperones will be in Edmonds from Aug. 6-18, and nine or 10 host families are needed to welcome them.
They will be a mix of high school and middle school students, all having studied English and all enthusiastic about an American family experience.
Please welcome one of them into your home to interact with your family and enjoy the fun of learning about Japanese culture and showing off our American life.
They will have most of their weekday activities planned, and so you will be able to show them around over the two weekends.
You can go to the Edmonds Sister City Facebook Page (you do not have to join Facebook to see the posts and photos) —https://www.facebook.com/EdmondsSisterCityCommission—and look at August 2012, where you can see dozens of photos of Hekinan students in Edmonds – laughing, enjoying, relaxed and full of fun. The people in blue Sister City t-shirts are taking care of them that day.
You can find information about being a host family and an application on the Exchange Programs page of their website (escc.edmondswa.gov/).
Please contact Carolyn LaFave for more detailed information and a host family application: email@example.com.
