Shorecrest blanks Meadowdale | Boys prep tennis

The Meadowdale boys tennis team lost to Shorecrest on Thursday, Sept. 19. The Mavericks lost 7-0.

In singles, Nick Ekern lost 6-4, 6-1, while teammate Bret Matysik lost 6-4, 6-1, and Grayson Cox lost 6-0, 6-0. Lee Bruemmer lost 6-3, 6-0.

In the doubles matches, Mark Steinke and Quint Turner lost 6-1, 6-3, while Justin Ridley and Bennett Holton lost 4-6, 6-4 and 12-10 in the tiebreaker. Anthony Smeester and Jacob O’Connell lost the last game of the day 6-4, 3-6 and 15-13 in the tiebreaker.

Meadowdale head coach Warren Bailey said the Mavericks came out flat, but gave a ton of credit to the Shorecrest team and their coaches for playing hard.

The Mavericks will play Shorewood at Shorewood Park on Monday, Sept. 23 at 3:30 p.m.
