Sherwood sends 55 runners to the Seattle Kids Marathon
Sherwood Elementary sent a record number of runners to race in the Seattle Kids Marathon Nov. 24.
The team won the coveted trophy for being the team with the largest increase in participants. They went from seven last year to 55 this year.
They also had the largest team of any school participating in the race. Each student logged 25 miles of running on their own before the 1.2 miles they ran on race day.
In addition to that, they each read 13 books and did 13 “Do Rights” to win their medals.
They all participate in the running club at Sherwood and they truly show an enormous commitment to their fitness.
They plan to run several other events as a group this year and hope to double their total of runners at next year’s Seattle Kids Marathon as well.
Congratulations Sherwood runners!
