Scuba diver dies at Edmonds Marina Beach
A 60-year-old Marysville man died while scuba diving near the Edmonds ferry dock this afternoon.
At about 12:15 p.m., the diver was spotted floating in the water near the dock, and a ferry crew notified 911 dispatchers.
“The crew deployed a small rescue boat from the ferry, and brought the diver to the beach south of the dock,” said Leslie Hynes, public information officer for Snohomish County Fire District 1.
Firefighters performed CPR, but were unable to revive the diver.
The man was part of a group of divers who had been volunteering their time for a maintenance project at the underwater diver park north of the ferry dock.
Fellow divers told firefighters the man who died was an experienced diver and well acquainted with the dive park.
At this point, the cause of death is unknown.
