Sandwich boards vs. ADA rules
I have two concerns about the use of sandwich boards.
Those concerns include sandwich boards on Edmonds sidewalks and realtors sandwich boards on sidewalks of Highway 104 (Edmonds Way).
Sandwich boards obstruct the sidewalks making it difficult for those pushing baby strollers to navigate. Sandwich boards make it difficult for those using walkers and wheelchairs to navigate.
Often I have ridden my bike along Edmonds Way and seen a citizen in a wheelchair motoring to the grocery store. He is going from 95th Avenue West to 100th Avenue West.
All along this sidewalk on weekends there are realtors’ signs. He has no way of navigating around the sandwich boards. His path is completely blocked.
I encourage all of us to be considerate of the needs of our citizens when we make sandwich board regulation decisions.
