Want a $7-$10 gift card or gift certificate to an Edmonds restaurant?

Here’s the catch: You have to donate blood. Those who register to donate at the Donate & Dine blood drive in Edmonds 1-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, can pick up their reward as part of a new Bloodworks Northwest donor program supported by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce.

Supporting restaurants include Salt & Iron, Red Twig, Las Brisas, Walnut Street Coffee, The Cheesemonger’s Table, Revelations Yogurt, Hamburger Harry’s and Pancake Haus

You won’t be able to miss the mobile blood bus. It’ll be parked near Starbucks by the fountain.

“Donate & Dine is designed to engage new donors and build community support for our life-saving mission,” Bloodworks Northwest program manager Joe Ferrara said.

The blood collected will help trauma victims, treat cancer patients, and help those receiving organ or bone marrow transplants. Bloodworks provides blood to more than 90 hospitals in the Pacific Northwest, including Harborview, UW Medical Center, Swedish, Virginia Mason, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and Seattle Children’s.

Donating blood takes less than an hour and, because blood can be broken down into its three components, each donation, about a pint, can potentially save three lives.

For more information, a list of participating blood drives, or to schedule a donation, call 800-398-7888 or go to www.BloodworksNW.org/dine.
