Phoenix Theatre to stage ‘Kimberly Akimbo’
Set in the wilds of New Jersey, Kimberly is a teenager with a rare condition that causes her to age faster than she should.
When her family flees Secaucus under dubious circumstances, she is forced to re-evaluate her life while contending with a hypochondriac mother, a rarely sober father, a homeless, scam-artist aunt, and the most terrifying of all, the possibility of first love.
“Kimberly Akimbo” is the latest production at Phoenix Theatre, with showings slated at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays from May 30 through June 22.
The New York Daily News said it’s “A wacky, touching, and totally charming dark comedy that gives a whole new meaning to coming of age story.”
Tickets are $18.50 Adults, $15.50 Seniors/Military through the Box Office 206-533-2000 or through brownpapertickets.com
The Phoenix Theatre is at 9673 Firdale Ave., Edmonds.
