Strong preference is given to applicants actively pursuing education toward careers in literary or performing arts.
Applicants must currently have an Edmonds address, have lived in Edmonds for at least one year, and be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. The deadline for application is 5 p.m. on Mar. 1, 2013. Each applicant is required to audition/interview with the selection committee.
The Edmonds Arts Commission Scholarship Review Committee is made up of three Commissioners and may include qualified members of the arts community.
Recommendations will be acted upon by the full Commission at their April meeting.
The scholarships are paid to the accredited university, college, or professional school the student will be attending.
Scholarships are funded in part from revenue generated in past years by community events sponsored by the Commission and by private tax deductible donations to the EAC Scholarship Fund.
Starting in 2013, with the elimination of City of Edmonds general fund annual support for arts programs, all EAC program revenues will be used to support other programs presented by the Edmonds Arts Commission.
Once the current fund for scholarships is depleted the scholarship program will be eliminated, but for 2013-14 scholarships will still be awarded.
