On Thursday, Sept. 29, the Beacon ran a photo of the overgrown grounds of the old Edmonds Post Office with the headline "First-class mess at old post office."
The mess has been cleaned up.
Anyone want to take credit?
Here's the original story:
The Beacon has received comments about the weeds and general shoddy look of the old Edmonds Post Office on Main and Second. The city is not responsible for its upkeep, as it’s private property.
So we asked the owner, Doug Spee, who plans to build apartments on the site, about it.
“I was hoping to break ground by now,” he said. “I’ll grab an old mower and get it done. Amazing. I love civic pride. Let's have a Saturday work party to dust up the old post office. Ask each one of these letter writers to put down their laptops, grab a rake and clippers, and experience true involvement. Then they can complain all they want.”
Spee added that his new park bench at Second and Bell was stolen the first week it was put in.
