National anthem contest judging begins

May 05, 2017

Earlier this year the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce opened a contest to find the next singer of the national anthem during the fireworks show as part of An Edmonds Kind of Fourth.

More than 22 singers, both young and old, entered the contest and were asked to submit a video of them performing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” It is now up to a small group of judges to select a winner.

Mayla Muth, a local singing teacher and contest committee chairwoman, has selected seven local judges who are professional singing teachers, theater performers and seasoned singers, as well as members of the chamber.

Judges will announce the winner June 1.
