Motorist plunges down embankment; DUI suspected
A motorist suspected of driving under the influence was transported to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital after his vehicle plunged down an embankment early Sunday, Feb. 2, on the 9100 block of 196th Street SW in Edmonds.
According to a Fire District 1 spokesperson, firefighters responded at 2:11 a.m. after the car plunged down the 100-foot embankment. The driver was transported with unspecified injuries, the spokesperson said.
Sgt. Mark Marsh of the Edmonds Police Department said his officers reported no one was injured. It is unclear why the two departments had different information.
It’s possible, Marsh said, that the driver was taken to the hospital for DUI tests.
A homeowner who was awakened by the crash said the incident caused a lot of damage to his hillside property.
“I could see how he went down the hill,” the homeowner said. “He took down a lot of my personal property.
“It’s a miracle no one was seriously injured.”
