Meadowdale tennis players second, sixth at 3A South division tournament | Boys prep tennis

The Meadowdale boys tennis team participated in the 4A South division tournament at Glacier Peak High School on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 22-23.

Nick Ekern finished in second place, having lost to Nishant Limaye of Shorecrest in the finals 6-2, 6-2. Maverick teammate Bret Matysik finished in sixth place, falling to Jamie Wright of Shorewood 6-2, 6-1.

Ekern will move on to the 3A District tournament at Stanwood High School which begins on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Matysik will serve as a singles alternate for Meadowdale.

In the doubles matches, Mark Steinke and Quint Turner finished in fifth place, beating Shorewood’s Scott Park and Alejandro Uvence. The duo will also serve as alternates in the district tournament.
