The Meadowdale lacrosse club has hired a new head coach for the boys team.

Nathan Wirtz, a former Snohomish all-conference midfielder and former member of the University of Idaho club team, was named the Meadowdale coach on Friday, Oct. 18. He currently works as a firefighter in Lake Stevens.

“Meadowdale lacrosse has great potential,” Wirtz said in a press release. “Our guys have some good experience and have done some tremendous things. I’m really excited for the spring season and can’t wait to get going.”

The club draws 22 students from Meadowdale, Edmonds-Woodway, Kings, Mountlake Terrace and Lynnwood High Schools, along with students from Providence Classical Christian.

Wirtz takes over a program which finished 6-9-0 last spring. He has previously coached summer lacrosse programs in Snohomish and Woodinville.
