Meadowdale downs Shorecrest 42-7 | Prep football

The Meadowdale Mavericks earned a league road win on Friday night, beating Shorecrest 42-7 at Shoreline Stadium.

The Mavs were the first to strike, off a 60-yard run by Rory Spillum with 3:26 left to play in the first. Meadowdale led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Just six seconds into the second quarter, quarterback Jerremiah Evans connected 7-yard pass to Charlie White to lift the Mavericks to a 14-0 lead. The team scored three more times before halftime, when Spillum made a 5-yard run, followed by a 54-yard run by Malik Braxton, who caught a 52-yard pass to end the first half. Meadowdale led 35-0.

In the third quarter, Spillum made a 4-yard touchdown run. The Scots would score the team's only points of the night in the fourth quarter, a 12-yard run by Michael Fisher.

Meadowdale is now 1-0 in league games and 3-1 overall this season. The Mavericks will play Shorewood at 8 p.m. on Oct. 4 at Edmonds Stadium. The Thunderbirds are 1-3 this season.
