A group of the 2013 Lynnwood Police Citizens Academy graduates pose for a photo recently in the Lynnwood Municipal Court.

The Lynnwood Police Department just finished it 22nd Citizens Academy with almost 70 graduates.

The 13-week, free, annual course familiarizes citizens with common police procedures, activities and investigative techniques.

Although this course will not make police officers out of the public, those who attend learn a great deal about all phases of law enforcement.

23 NEW Lynnwood Police Volunteers: Nine of these graduates have gone on to join the department’s Lynnwood Police Citizens Patrol group and four of these participants have gone on to join the department’s Lynnwood Police Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) group.
