This past weekend the Washington Rush Girls U14 Nike team won the Virginia Mason US Youth Soccer Washington State Championship.

This amazing group of 16 young woman not only won Washington Rush’s first state championship, but did it by not conceding one goal in all six state cup games ~ three preliminary games, Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and the Championship game all the way up and through overtime in the final.

After an intense round of penalties that lasted six rounds, they eventually defeated Eastside FC and claimed the state title!

Along with the honor of winning the state title comes the privilege and responsibility for this group of young athletes to represent Rush and the state of Washington at the Far West Regional Championship held in Honolulu, Hawaii, June 17-23.

Congratulations to their coach, Ben Somoza and all 16 players and families. Good luck in Hawaii!
