Learn to safeguard yourself for the holidays

The Edmonds Police Department is inviting the public to a crime prevention and information forum being held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. today, Nov. 14, in the city council chambers located in the Public Safety Building at 250 5th Ave N, Edmonds.

Detective Brian McIntyre, Detective Steve Morrison and Detective Andy Mehl will be addressing several topics related to keeping the public aware of how to better protect themselves from some common crimes.

The topics will include:

  • Update on current identity theft and scam practices;
  • What you can do to protect yourself from property crimes i.e.; burglaries and vehicle prowls;
  • What should you do if you do become a victim?
  • When do you call 9-1-1?

With the holiday season upon us, there will be an increase in identity thefts, scams where people will prey on unsuspecting citizens, burglaries and vehicle prowls.

Learn how to better safeguard yourself from becoming a victim and enjoy the season and a safer community.
