King's falls to Lynden Christian, takes second in state tournament | Girls prep basketball
The King's girls basketball team finished the season on Saturday evening as the No. 2 team in the state 1A girls tournament in Yakima.
The Knights fell 55-40 in the state title game to Lynden Christian, the same team which beat the Knights during the 1A district tournament in February.
Against the Lyncs on Saturday, King's trailed 18-10 after one quarter of play, and were down 29-20 at halftime.
In the second half, the Knights outscored Lynden Christian 14-10 in the third quarter, but a 17-6 fourth quarter secured the state title for Lynden Christian.
Karly Hibbard scored 14 points during the game, while teammate Julia Berenson scored 13 points and Savanna Hanson added eight. Daylee Hanson scored three points and Anna Parker added two.
The Knights finished the season with a 24-5 record after taking second in the district tournament and fourth in the Tri-District tournament.
