King's advances to state after win over Montesano | Girls prep basketball

The King's girls basketball team punched its ticket to the state tournament this week after beating Montesano during the regional tournament. The final score was 40-34 for the Knights.

King's led 10-11 after one quarter, and both teams scored 11 points during the second to give the Knights a 22-21 lead at halftime.

In the second half, King's scored 10 points in the third, holding Montesano to five points. Both teams hit eight points during the final minutes of the game, earning King's the win.

Savanna Hanson scored 11 points during the win, while Julia Berenson added seven points and Karly Hibbard and Daylee Hanson scored six points each. Anna Parker scored four, with Maddie Nielsen, Hannah Echelbarger each scoring two points.

The Knights advance to the 1A girls state tournament this week at the Sun Dome in Yakima.

King's will face Okanogan in the first round, playing at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 6.
