Kamiak beats Meadowdale in non-league match-up | Prep wrestling
The Kamiak wrestling team traveled to face non-league Meadowdale on Wednesday, Jan. 8, in the team’s first meet since the holiday break.
Kamiak won 45-26.
Kamiak’s Kyle James won the 106 weight class by forfeit, and Kobe Kamin beat Adrian Guzman by 14-8 decision in the 113 weight class.
In the 120 division, Ryan James beat Meadowdale’s Beck Millet by pin after 4:44 and Meadowdale’s Eric Guzman won the 126 match by forfeit.
Nathan Goodwin earned a win for the Knights in the 132 weight class by pinning Kaden Jorgenson in 58 seconds. In the 138-pound match, Meadowdale’s Ryan Keith beat Alex Maxey by 6-5 decision, followed by Kamiak’s Tyler Frisch pinning Ray Becraft in 3:25 to win the 145 weight class.
Kamiak’s Spencer Mitchell earned a win in the 152 weight class after beating Liam Ball by 12-7 decision, despite several breaks due to a bloody nose.
Knight’s senior David Bikoev earned a win in the 160 match after beating Colton Davis by 14-7 decision and teammate Tyler Webley beat Paul Savchuck by pin in 5:19 to win the 170 match.
Meadowdale’s Josiah Evans was pinned by Kamiak’s Connor Mitchell in the 182 weigth class in 2:56 and Maverick senior Ciaran Ball earned a win in the 195 division over Michael Powell by technical fall 21-6.
Meadowdale’s Tim Smith won the last match of the day, the 220-weight class, by pinning Tanner Kunard in 3:20.
Kamiak is now 2-5 this season and will host Lynnwood on Friday, Jan. 10 at 7:15 p.m. Meadowdale, now 2-3 this year, will host Glacier Peak on Thursday, Jan. 16.
