I’m on the wagonI am very confident that most all government programs are serving those that are in need of assistance.
Dave Page's reference to "on the wagon or off the wagon" in last weeks Beacon reminds me of a Presidential candidate that recently made the same type of statement during his campaign. Mitt Romney referred to the "47 percent" in a broadly sweeping campaign statement to his moneybags contributors. He lost the election.
Dave Page should embrace the same reality check that many Republicans are going through right now.
With this election the electorate has changed and the results of this election has the conservative leadership re-thinking their position on several issues such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicade, Planned Parenthood, immigration, women’s health, and contraception, among others that confront the American people today.
We are no longer living in the 1950's world that Dave Page would like.
Without having numbers relating to those that abuse the system, be it Medicare, Medicade, food stamps, etc. I am very confident that most all government programs are serving those that are in need of assistance.
If Dave Page wants to live in the past he is welcome to go there.
I came from the past and as a result plan on enjoying my retirement years knowing that Social Security, Medicare and Medicade, which I have paid into for over 40 years will be there to supplement additional finances that I will need in my retirement years.
I guess I'm "on the wagon" and have earned that position.
