House fire displaces Everett family

Aug 07, 2014

A house fire in Everett on Wednesday afternoon has displaced a family of six.

Everett firefighters were dispatched at about 12:50 p.m. on Aug. 6 to the 2200 block of Eighth Street for a report of a house fire, said Everett Assistant Fire Marshal Eric Hicks.

Firefighters arrived and encountered flames coming from several windows of the home. Crews were able to control the fire within 10 minutes.

"The family had left the home two hours before the first 911 call, so no one was home at the time of the fire," Hicks said.

Three pets are still missing and after three searches it is believed that they were able to escape on their own, Hicks said. No other injuries were reported.

Hicks said the home appears to be a total loss. The Red Cross will be working with displaced residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
