Homeowner call foils felon’s escape

A wanted gang member hid out on a local resident’s roof last Thursday, but instead of a sleigh ride with Santa he won a one-way ticket to jail.

A search for the Seattle man disrupted traffic and caused concern for local residents of the Perrinville area for more than five hours.

The search began after the fleeing subject wrecked his car trying to escape Lynnwood and Seattle police officers.

Lynnwood officers were assisting Seattle police as they attempted to arrest the man wanted on a Department of Corrections felony warrant around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Officers followed the suspect until he wrecked the vehicle, according to Sgt. Mark Marsh of the Edmonds Police Department.

“The subject is also a known gang member with an extensive criminal history,” he said. “He was in the area of 7200 block of 175th Street SW in Edmonds and had fled on foot.”

Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace and Edmonds police units responded along with K9 units from both Edmonds and Lynnwood police departments.

Officers continued to look for the subject for several hours in the area.

At 9:58 p.m., a resident in the 6900 block of Meadowdale Beach Road called to say a subject had just jumped off their roof and walked away.

Officers immediately went to the area, located and arrested the subject at 10:45 p.m.

The subject, a 41-year-old Seattle resident, was booked on the D.O.C. warrant with other pending criminal charges.
