The Edmonds Police Department is increasingly relying on websites and social media to catch the bad guys/girls.

In April 2015, the department debuted its Facebook and Twitter accounts, where Sgt. Shane Hawley and Sgt. Josh McClure post information on criminals suspected on committing crimes.

The posts frequently feature photos.

The Edmonds PD has also been successful with posts from partners Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound and Q13 Fox’s’ “Washington’s Most Wanted.”

The department is now also taking advantage of another website,

The site was created as a location for all Washington State police investigators to post photographs of people captured on video that they could not identify. The subjects in these photographs are persons of interest, witnesses or potential suspects

“We post suspect information to their site quite often,” Hawley said.

“If you go to their page, you should see some of our suspects listed, people we are trying to get identified.”
