Heavy rains, flooding possible
The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement warning of possible heavy showers and scattered thunderstorms for Thursday through Friday.
Additionally there is a possibility the thunderstorms on the leading edge of this system could arrive this afternoon or early evening.
The Puget Sound Lowlands may see 1 to 2 inches of rain, while the Cascades may see 2 to 4 inches of rain.
Trained weather spotters in the area reported rainfall amounts from last week’s flash flood event ranging from half an inch to nearly 1½ inches in approximately 1 hour.
Like last week, the hourly rainfall rates may exceed 1 inch and could lead to urban and small stream flooding, flooded basements, power outages and traffic accidents. Drivers should expect reduced visibility on the roads.
Get prepared by checking your storm drains and culverts to make sure they are clear of debris.
