Grant to assure Fourth of July activities for future
The Edmonds-based Hazel Miller Foundation has awarded the Edmonds Chamber Foundation a $35,000 grant in support of An Edmonds Kind of Fourth.
The grant assures that the community-wide, daylong celebration will march through downtown Edmonds and illuminate the skyline with fireworks on the Fourth of July for 2017 and years to come, said Chamber of Commerce President Greg Urban.
The nonprofit Edmonds Chamber Foundation presents the event, which is managed by the chamber.
An Edmonds Kind of Fourth features the Beat Brackett 5K, children’s parade, main parade and evening entertainment and fireworks that, combined, draw more than 25,000 spectators.
“Many people in the community don’t realize that the Fourth of July celebration is privately funded by the Edmonds Chamber and Chamber Foundation,” Urban said.
“No tax dollars are used. It is the business owners and private donations who ensure we have fireworks and parades each year.“
