George L. Montet 1919-2013
George passed away peacefully at his home in Edmonds on Nov. 7, 2013, at the age of 93.
George was born on Dec. 10, 1919 in Ventress, Louisiana. The family moved to Baton Rouge where he attended Catholic High and graduated from LSU with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. After serving in the Army during WWII he married Margaret Davis of Shreveport, Louisiana. They moved to Chicago, Illinois where they raised their family and where George earned his PHD from University of Chicago in Chemical Physics. George worked at Argonne National Laboratory for 30 years before retiring to Asheville, N.C. In 1996, they moved to Edmonds to be close to their daughter and grandchildren. The last 17 years, George enjoyed playing bridge at the Senior Center, walking to the library and bowling on the Senior League. George loved being around his family, reading the newspaper and watching LSU football!
George is predeceased by his wife Margaret and daughter Gail. He is survived by his daughter Christine Den Adel, son-in-law Ron Den Adel, and grandsons Sean and Nathan.
A celebration of his life will take place at his home in Edmonds on Jan.18, 2014.
