Five Corners Roundabout artwork proposalsThe meeting is open to the public, and comments will be taken at 7 p.m.
In April 2013, the Edmonds Arts Commission sent out a request for qualifications for artists interested in creating artwork for the Five Corners Roundabout project scheduled to be constructed in 2014.
The public art selection process defined by city ordinance designates a selection committee that includes a member of the community, a person associated with the site e.g. a business or property owner, a representative of the Edmonds Arts Commission, a representative of City Council, an arts professional and in the case of a transportation project a member of City engineering staff.
The committee met in June and selected three artists out of more than 20 applicants to create design proposals.
The three artists will present their design concepts to the selection committee in the Plaza Room, 650 Main St, from 5:30 – 7 p.m., on Thursday, July 25.
Each artist has 30 minutes for his or her presentation.
The meeting is open to the public, and comments will be taken at 7 p.m. following all three presentations.
The order for presentations is: 5:30 p.m. – Chris Rench; 6 p.m. – Julie Berger; 6:30 p.m. – Stuart Nakamura.
A final recommendation by the selection committee is forwarded to the Edmonds Arts Commission. The EAC then makes a recommendation to City Council and Council considers approval following a public hearing.
