Fire Sirens
Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 381 calls the week of Dec. 27 to Jan. 2: 308 emergency medical aid calls, 25 motor vehicle collisions, 19 fires, 10 service calls, 3 natural gas leaks and 16 automatic fire alarms.
December 30
DUMPSTER FIRE: At 11:51 p.m., firefighters extinguished a Dumpster fire in the 14500 block of Admiralty Way north of Lynnwood.
December 31
FIRE: At 9:27 a.m., an attic fire was reported at a home in the 11000 block of 4th Avenue W south of Everett. The residents used a garden hose to douse the flames and firefighters extinguished smoldering embers. Investigators determined the cause of the fire was electrical. Damage was minimal.
January 1
APARTMENT FIRE: At 2:51 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire that caused more than $200,000 damage and displaced 14 residents from a four-unit building at an apartment complex in the 11220 block of 9th Place W south of Everett. Firefighters at the scene evaluated a woman and a teenage boy for smoke inhalation. The boy was transported by aid unit to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. His condition was not life threatening. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
COLLISION: At 7:28 p.m., a two-car collision was reported at the intersection of 216th Street SW and Highway 99 in Edmonds. Firefighters transported three patients with minor injuries to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.
January 2
ARSON CAR FIRE: At 8:26 a.m., fire investigators responded to a car fire in the 2000 block of 196th Street SW east of Lynnwood. Damage is estimated at $1,000. The fire is being investigated as arson.
COLLISION: At 4:03 p.m., firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital after responding to a two-car collision on southbound I-5 north of 196th Street SW.
Fire District 1 is the largest provider of fire and emergency medical services in Snohomish County, with full-time staffing at 12 fire stations. The department serves nearly 200,000 residents in unincorporated south Snohomish County, Brier, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace and Woodway.
