Family series begins with Recess Monkey concert
Edmonds Center for the Arts is proud to launch its new Family Series with a performance by Seattle-based “Kindie” rockers Recess Monkey at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12.
Recess Monkey is the nationally acclaimed trio of teachers who make music for kids and families that truly rocks.
Known for prolific, eclectic musical output and contagiously exciting live shows, the group strives to strike a balance between focusing on kid-centric ideas and passions and musical authenticity.
Time Out New York recently named Recess Monkey the #3 Kindie band in America behind the iconic They Might Be Giants and gifted Chicago kid-tunester Justin Roberts.
Lyrically, the group weaves jokes and puns together with universal childhood themes, speaking to both kids and their parents simultaneously with catchy, melodic songs.
Recess Monkey is presented as part of ECA’s new Family Series, a program that focuses on engaging children from a young age in diverse and exciting arts experiences.
The cornerstone of the Family Series is the free annual event Kidstock!, which was held Feb. 8 at ECA.
All children who attend Recess Monkey will receive a surprise gift. Tickets are $5, and available through the ECA Box Office at 425-275-9595, www.ec4arts.org, or in person at 410 Fourth Ave. N.
