The Edmonds Woodway Jazz Ensemble 1

The Edmonds Woodway Jazz Ensemble 1 is one of the 15 finalists for its prestigious 18th Annual Essentially Ellington High School Band & Festival Competition.

Beginning on May 10, the band will compete for top honors and participate in workshops, jam sessions, and more during the three-day EE competition and festival in New York City.

This year over 96 bands nationwide entered the competition. For the first time, the entire weekend of EE events, including the final concert featuring the three top-placing bands the JLCO, will be web cast live on jalc.org/live.

This is a wonderful opportunity for these talented Edmonds Woodway musicians.

The EWHS Jazz Ensemble is an audition only group that rehearses each day at 6:30 a.m. before school.

They will be in New York for six days and nights, so this is a very expensive trip.

The group has held several fund raising events this year to help reduce costs, but they are still in need of financial assistance for their travel and lodging expenses.

If you would like to help, you can donate directly to the EWHS Music Boosters, which is a registered non-profit organization, and as such donors will receive a tax write-off as a charitable donation.

The Booster Club also has a PayPall account if you would like to donate using a credit card. The Booster Club email address is http://ewhsmusic.com.

In the coming weeks look for additional events in Edmonds on the part of the students to raise funds for their trip.
