Edmonds-Woowday, Meadowdale compete at state track championships
Edmonds-Woodway and Meadowdale each sent several athletes to the 3A/4A state track and field competition this weekend at Mt. Tahoma High School in Tacoma.
Edmonds-Woodway junior Miler Haller was 15th overall in the 1,600-meter competition with a final time of 4 minutes, 22.09 seconds. He also finished in eighth place in the boys 4A 3,200-meter race in 9:26.49.
Meadowdale's Chris Grant was 10th overall in the 3A 110-meter hurdles race in 15.20 seconds.
Meadowdale's 4x400 relay team of Grant, Josh Verzola, Harry White and Trevor White were 13th in the prelims in 3:29.69.
Edmonds-Woodway senior Theo Lebesis was ninth overall in the 4A discus competition with a toss of 146 feet, 10 inches.
Warrior senior Tanner Berndahl was 13th overall in the boys 4A 100-meter race in 10.98 seconds. Senior teammate Claire Popke just missed qualifying for the finals in the girls 4A 100-meter race after a ninth place finish in 12.30 seconds.
Meadowdale senior Ndey Sonko was 17th overall in the 3A discus throw at 88-05. Teammate DeeDee Free was 10th in the 3A girls shot put at 35-11.75, while Sonko finished in 16th place at 30-02.
The Edmonds-Woodway boys 4x100 relay team of Nate Gonzales, Jared Yu, Sterling Mahan and Tanner Berndahl were 15th in the prelims in 45.77.
Meadowdale's Margaryonta Kilcup was seventh overall in the boys 3A 200-meter race in 22.76 seconds. Kilcup finished in fourth overall in the 3A boys 100-meter race in 11.03.
Edmonds-Woodway senior Djenne Dickens finished in 12th place in the girls 4A 200-meter prelim race in 25.43.
The Warriors girls 4x100 relay team of Ella Spillane, Dickens, Fatou Jatta and Popke finished in fourth place overall in 48.90.
Meadowdale's Chikodi Ezeokeke was 10th in the 3A boys triple jump at 41-03, followed by teammate Malik Braxton in 11th place at 40-07.
