Edmonds-Woodway to be used during disasters, emergencies
The city of Edmonds has reached an agreement with the Edmonds School District to use Edmonds-Woodway High School as a place to provide emergency services on behalf of individuals and families who are victims of disasters or other emergency events.
In the event of an emergency, the school’s gym, kitchen and Great Hall areas will be used.
The agreement ends Dec. 31, 2020, and can then be extended for another four years.
Background: The Emergency Services Coordinating Agency (ESCA) dissolved in December 2015. ESCA had facility use agreements in place with local churches and the school district to use their facilities for emergency services.
The city has been working since mid-2015 to establish facility use agreements, as it has the primary responsibility to respond in the event of an emergency.
