Edmonds-Woodway runners earn individual titles at first home meet | Prep cross country
Two members of the Edmonds-Woodway cross country teams earned top finishes at the Warriors first home meet of the season on Sept. 19.
Hailey Kettel took first place in the girls race in 17:55 during the 2.7 mile race, while teammate Miler Haller was first in the boys competition in 15:09.
As a team, the boys finished in second place with 61 points behind Snohomish’s 23, while the Warriors girls team earned 56 points for third place.
Individually, Benjamin Yang finished in third place with a time of 16:52, while Elliot Harrison was fifth in 17:09, followed by Jonah Cortezzo in sixth, Anindo Khan in seventh and Jacob Henrichsen in eighth. Biniam Tesfaghaber was 11th for the Warriors, while teammate Jackson Kettel finished in 14th place, Alan Song was 16th and Noushyar Eslami was 17th overall.
In the girls race, Hayley Tengs was second in 19:27, while Susan Kim followed for third place in 20:58. Svetlana Alabyeva was fifth in 21:29, Megan Kelly was sixth, Isabel Callen was seventh and Jane Sahabu was 15th overall.
The Edmonds-Woodway team will next travel to Lake Stevens on Thursday, Sept. 26 for a meet against Lake Stevens and Shorecrest.
