Edmonds-Woodway runner wins Wesco title | Prep cross country
The Edmonds-Woodway boys and girls cross country teams traveled to South Whidbey High School on Saturday, Oct. 26 for the 4A Wesco championships.
Miler Haller won the boys individual title with a time of 15:46 on the 5,000 meter course.
The boys team finished in sixth place with 149 points, while the girls team was seventh with 154 points.
In the boys race, Benjamin Yang finished in 33rd place with a time of 17:20, while Sam MCCloughan was 35th overall in 17:26. Elliot Harrison was 37th in 17:31, Noushyar Eslami was 52nd, Grady Okeson was 53rd and Jonah Cortezzo was 59th. Cameron Aitken was 73rd in the race and Alan Song finished in 91st place.
In the girls race, Hailey Kettel finished in fourth place in 19:15. The race was won by Jackson's Brooke Kingma in 19:04.
Kathryn Haldeman finished in 20th place for the Warriors with a time of 20:29, followed by Hayley Tengs in 27th place in 20:43. Susan Kim was 51st overall, Isabel Callen was 61st and Megan Kelly was 62nd.
The top eight teams and the top 40 individuals advance to the District meet which will be held Saturday, Nov. 2 at Lincoln Park in Seattle.
The top eight teams and the top 40 individuals advance to the District I/II meet which will be held Saturday, Nov. 2 at Lincoln Park in Seattle. The boys race will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the girls race at 1:45 p.m.
The top five boys and girls team and the top 25 individuals will qualify for the state meet on Saturday, Nov. 9 in Pasco, Wash.
