Edmonds-Woodway beats Meadowdale in non-league match | Prep baseball
The Edmonds-Woodway baseball team earned its first win of the season on Saturday, March 22, beating non-league opponent Meadowdale 11-3.
The Warriors started the game with three runs in the top of the first inning, adding six runs in the top of the fourth after a grand slam by Tate Budnick.
The Mavericks were held scoreless until the bottom of the sixth, when Meadowdale scored three straight runs. Edmonds-Woodway finished the game with two runs in the top of the sixth inning.
The Warriors had 11 runs off 14 hits with one error, while Meadowdale scored three runs off seven hits with one error.
Warrior senior Budnick was credited with the win on the mound and was 3-4 at bat with six RBI to go with his grand slam. Doubles were hit for Edmonds-Woodway by Mac McLachlan, Chantz Justic and Marc Campagnaro, with Meadowdale's Kenley Ackerman and Daokta Barlament also hit doubles. Phil Thomas and Brett Schafer hit triples for the Mavericks.
The Warriors, now 1-1 this season, will play at Mountlake Terrace on Tuesday, March 25 at 4 p.m.
Meadowdale, now 0-1 this season, will play at Marysville-Pilchuck on Wednesday, March 26 at 4 p.m.
