May 29, 2014

The U.S. Department of Transportation announced that $2,268,000 in federal funding has been allocated to improve Edmonds’ ferry facilities.

The Washington State Department of Transportation and King County Department of Transportation will receive federal grants to support ferry system improvements in Mukilteo and Seattle/King County as well.

Muilteo ferries will receive $4.7 million in funding, and Seattle/King County ferries will receive $3 million.

"This critical funding for ferries in Washington state will help to maintain and modernize ferry facilities around the Puget Sound," said U.S. Sen. Patty Murray.

“I’m pleased we are making the necessary federal investments in our infrastructure to improve the safety, efficiency and reliability of the nation’s largest ferry system.”
