Don’t bring grenades to the police station
The Edmonds Police Twitter feed made an alarming announcement Monday, April 10.
“Someone brought us an old grenade. Please don't do that. If you find one, leave it alone and call. We can bring bomb squad to you.”
Sgt. Shane Hawley said a woman left the unexploded grenade in her car, in the parking lot, and went inside the station to report it.
Hawley said she’d found it after cleaning her house.
In an abundance of caution, the police station – located inside the Public Safety Complex at Sixth Avenue North and Bell Street – was closed for two hours.
The complex also includes Edmonds Municipal Court.
A state patrol bomb technician took control of the grenade and the station was reopened.
